It’s the middle of summer and weekend brunches are under way. A beach party in the backyard, a cookout with friends over, or a late night at home. But the sun goes down and the beer goes warm. By the time it’s dip time, everyone is hungry. And after having a hearty meal, you’ve finished up all you can eat. So instead of ordering another check, you can take your complete meal (incluming breakfast) to go with you and your friends. This is literally a “makeover” for your food. You change the ingredients, the cooking methods, the condiments, perhaps the drinks. altogether to fit your taste.
Who doesn’t like smoothies? And how about drinking tea or coffee with your meal? And how about that smoothie breakfast, smoothie supper? Well, I’ve got a cool idea for you: why not bring your lunch along to work? Sure, you work 40 hours a week. But why not enjoy a well balanced lunch, hydrate yourself, and energize your body? Weekend lunch “supper” parties are the jam.
bring your family along
What if your kid’s school doesn’t have an off-site facility? How about your other friends’ schools? If you’re just having an off-site party for family and friends, why not bring your coworkers along on Friday or Saturday? Friends, family, co-workers, and coworkers will appreciate you bringing their kids to a fun, productive lunch. In addition, you will have other coworkers and friends appreciate you preparing lunch meals together.
Stay hydrated
Not only will you be more energized, you will also have more energy. Let’s face it: caffeine and other ingredients that give you a boost often do have the side effect of making you crash. How can you be sure you won’t have caffeine or another ingredient related to crash if you drink? Well, by prepping your food and beverages with essential hydration such as drinking water before, during and after eating and drinking healthy meals and drinks, you will avoid the effects of extended energy loss.
Think healthy
You want to sound like you know your diet. You want to look and feel your best without doing all the extra grocery shopping. So, the next time you go shopping, buy bread and/or yogurt with the following lines:
“Ingredients may include wheat, milk, eggs, and soy.”
“Each serving contains 2 servings of food.”
“Reduced fat” means that the food contains at least 25 percent less fat than the lunch item on the menu.
“Soy” means soy protein isolate, a soy ingredient.
“Wheat” means wheat gluten, which is the protein present in wheat that is not digested in the small intestines of humans or animals.
“Lactose” means the milk sugar has been removed from the milk by coagulation with another substance.
“Eggs” refers to the egg yolk, which contains vitamins A, D and E, and is high in protein and vitamin B 12.
Keep it cool
Get a thermos. I mean a nice, clean insulating device (the kind that has a plastic lid) for keeping food or beverages cold.
“Keep hot foods hot” means dishes such as salads, sautéed dishes, grilled foods, or breads that contain oil can be kept hot up to a certain temperature.
“Keep cold foods cold” means the same thing, but means foods such as cold sandwiches, salads, or cold soup.
“Best by dates” means the foods are good to eat by a certain date. Do not eat any food after the date.
Remember the Budget
A food budget is a very important aspect of vending. It is possible to feed your family for a holiday dinner using just the hamper and save a few dollars. Remember to count the cost of the food; leave room for waste and keep track of your food costs.
The most important thing is to live within the budget you have. To create a budget, first think about the meal. Don’t go to the restaurant every meal; instead, have one day a week where you order nothing but organic food so you know what you are spending and the total cost at the store.
Mix it up
The last thing you want is to get home from work and your spouse says “I’m not hungry anymore”. So make sure you take an equal amount of food and make sure you fill two meals. You can even split one meal up into two to save time. But after that, make sure no one goes to sleep hungry. Here are some tips for saving money using a food budget:
1. Do not order processed foods.
2. Find uncommon and unique ingredients and use them in your recipes.
3.
