Fresh or frozen?
I’ve heard many stories about frozen vegetables and how good they are for you. Some people say its even better than fresh. I don’t agree.
Frozen vegetables have been reheated and frozen again and again until the quality is great, as long as it doesn’t cost too much to thaw and freeze again.
Cabbage, asparagus, broccoli and Kale are all favorite vegetables that I cooks. I buy them fresh or frozen. I even make little baggies and freeze them. You can even make a soup with them by pureeing them and adding a little bit of chicken stock and salt.
Why do I freeze my vegetables?
Freezing is the best way to preserve your vegetables for long periods of time without losing any of their color, flavor, texture or flavor. It is also very effective in preventing discoloration anddegradation of your foods.
Try this: Once you’ve bought a certain item, cut it off, and it’s still in the refrigerator. Throw it out. It’s still fresh. Why? It’s been properly preserved.
Does your frozen veggie have a unique flavor? It probably does. Frozenpeas, for example, are creamier than fresh. It’s a compile of nutrients, amino acids, and enzymes that are in a concentration that you couldn’t duplicate. Try it!
Is it safer to freeze your vegetables?
Yes, if you follow the directions. If you are concerned about nutrients being preserved,it’s important to realize that some processes, such as the flash pasteurization process (which helps keep fruits and vegetables fresh) kills any and all nutrients. However, proper storage is needed to preventoky growth. After you flash freeze your veggies, keep them in the refrigerator until you use them, and they are as good as they were frozen.
DoesYour Storagesemble at a Jiffy?
Yes, if you have the time. While I can’t promise that your vegetables will last indefinitely, I added a specialextrasink top that stores the vegetables frozen. I call it the “rozen vegetable cooler”. It’s super easy to use and fits on your refrigerator.
Isthere a better alternative to home-made freezer jam?
Yes, get a jar of Fancy Farmhouse Honey Selector’s Golden Jam on your own instead of buying a jar ofCommercial Freeze-Dried Liqueur. And there’s other stuff, like frozen walnuts, that you can just put in the regular old bread bowl, or you can just use the Selector jars for other things.
