Among the most precious foods is time. Have you been rushing around this morning? Have you had a stop at the grocery store to stock up? You have made a bad habit in your life. ances are, you rush through your day without giving yourself the time to enjoy it. Does your schedule vary from the days to come? Does your schedule lack balance? You might find that you are developing new habits that are not allowing you to enjoy life. It is time to encourage yourself to change. Getting out of your routine and living life with balance is not easy.

But you cannot rush. The journey is long. Remember, it is a marathon. I once juiced for a client who was 25 years my senior, a doctor. I asked her how healthy her daily diet was. She said, “Well, I know what I eat, but I don’t know what I don’t eat.” Quite married and living alone for the first time, she felt she had no discipline when it came to her daily diet. This motivated me to seek out a fasting community. For this fast I chose to do a bit of research and decided I wanted a personal challenge. I wanted to see how much better I could make it for myself.

I did some looking and found that there are at least three different ways to fast. The first is the most extreme of which is failure to appear at all. This requires great courage. For me it was checking the freezer each day and seeing if I could find something that was raw, something that was organic, or at least something that sounded healthy. The other two are much more subtle. One is choosing what to eat at random in the grocery store. The other is inviting friends and family to have a day of raw food fun. Let’s call it the Raw Day. Everyone is encouraged to make a menu and purchase certain items. Everyone is encouraged to bring something. Usually a great time to have dinner is around 11 or even midnight. Letting your family help is a very fulfilling experience. They are fully fed, happy, and safe. The might even say, tired…But they have so much fun.

For those who are not so interested in losing weight, but just trying to understand how to use exercise in order to lose weight, I would recommend looking at my article, Implementing Deep Eating styles of Food Preparation.

And finally, when making new friends, it is sometimes best to just lie. Some lying is really fun but not to be contrived. And that is certainly more fun than being told someone is wrong and forced to conform. But give them a little education, and see how well you are believed. Here’s how:

“Lose 10 pounds and stop eating Chinese food”

Instead of saying “I can’t lose weight because Chinese food is bad for me” the person who was told this actually believed it. They shared their story and used their imaginations to create a story that went like this:

They sat down for a meal at a favorite restaurant. They ordered their food. But something was missing. So out came their imaginations andlavings to find the missing food. The man who told the tale said to them “I don’t like to eat Chinese food, it is too much work, and I am not hungry, so I am not going to eat it.”

Thinking back, this is a classic example of Lean improv. The man didn’t want to eat the food, but he liked to make it so it was enjoyable for him and the women.
